No man take it.

In John 18:4-7, Jesus is in the garden praying, when Judas and the soldiers arrive, Jesus ask them twice "Whom seek ye?". He has to tell them the second time that He is the Jesus they are there to arrest. I can just imagine the soldiers unbelief that someone would admit to being who they were trying to arrest. Then the soldiers tell they are there to arrest Jesus, and one of the disciples, pulled out a sword and attacked the soldiers, trying to protect Jesus, because he still did not understand just what Jesus had been telling them. Mt 26:53 tells us that Jesus asked him "don't you think I can call twelve legions of angels, to protect me?" There is some argument on just how many soldiers were in a legion, but it was somewhere around 5,000. Twelve legions would then be around 60,000 angels. He could have called sixty-thousand angels to set Him free, but he choose to go to Calvary for you and me.
Then in Luke ch 23, v. 34, Jesus not only forgave the people crucifying Him, but He asked the Father to forgive them. Because His blood had to be shed.
After some more time had passed, He said "it is finished", His work was done, then He said "Father into thy hands I commend my spirit", as He choose to separate His spirit and His body. He did not die, from being crucified, He choose the moment that His spirit left the earthly body. Look in John 10:17-18, He says, "I give my life, I give it up of my own power, no man can take it. I have the power to give it up, and I have the power to take it back, God the Father has given Me this power."
"What a Mighty God we serve", that He has the power to choose when His earthly body dies, and when it comes back to life. What a loving God we serve, that He is willing to suffer the horrible death on the cross, that we might be with Him in paradise.

The Good Shepard

I am going to have to ask you to get your Bible out, and look up some verses today. I have a lot of verses, and I could not decide what to leave off, so to keep me from typing a whole book,, if you don't mind look these up.
John 10:14, 27, Jesus says "I am the Good Shepard, my sheep know me." This is normal, sheep follow the voice of their Shepard, but then He goes on to say, "I know my sheep". Imagine this, look out over a field, there are 200-300 sheep in this field, only 150 belong to you. Every sheep is identical to the next, can you pick out which one's are yours? God Can.
Go on to verses 28-29, Jesus says, "I give them eternal life...no man pluck them out of my hand...no man pluck them out of my fathers hand." If you go back to the original manuscript, the words for pluck them out of my hand, actually describes a closed fist. So put something in your hand, and close your fist around it, now try to pull it out. But wait, not only does Jesus have his fist closed around us, but the Father has His fist closed around the fist of Jesus. So take the hand that is holding the object, place it inside your other hand, then have someone else try to take the object, now imagine that the object is you, inside God's hands. How safe are you? The Bible says "no man is able".
Turn over to Rom 8:31 "If God be for us, who can be against us?" That says it all right there. Who is able to defeat God? Who is able to harm God? If that verse was all of the Bible I had, I would have enough.
One more passage, look down at verses 35-39. Verse 35 goes back to John 10:28-29, and ask if any of these things can separate us from the love of God. Verse 36 refers back to the Good Shepard, and compares us to sheep again.
Then in verse 37 we see rejoicing again, "we are MORE than conquerors through Him that loved us." We are not just winners, we are more than winners. We ask "who won the game?", what is more than winning the game? "We not only won the game, but the other team had to disband", is that more than winning?
Look at the list of stuff in verses 38-39,it looks to me like Paul covered everything in existence. Death, life, present, future, angels, other creature, principalities/powers, what's left? None of these things can separate us from the love of God. No matter how far, or how hard we run we can not escape God. I know this from personal experience. I know just how far God will let us run, before He says that is far enough. I know the love He will show us, when we are in sin, not only before we are saved, but after also. If I suffered half of what He did, for someone else and they accepted my gift, then just ran away from me, I don't think I would bother chasing after them. But He does, He chased me down, and kept me safe when I put myself in dangerous situations, then He said "It's time to come home". Do you need to come home today? He is waiting on you, He put this writing in front of you to tell you that He still loves you, and forgives you, and wants you back.
Will you be a conqueror, or more than a conqueror?

Any other Gospel

Right now we are searching for a new church, there are a lot of reasons, mainly our home church which we still love, is just a little to far away from us. Herein lies the problem, not all churches teach the same thing. I was raised in a very conservative independent fundamental Baptist church. Over the years, my convictions have changed some, I am not as conservative as I used to be. However that is not the problem, Gal 1:8 says "...though we or an angel...preach any other gospel...let him be accursed". What gospel is that? Rom 3:24, & 28 "Being justified freely by His grace...", "a man is justified by faith without the deeds of the law". Then in Titus 3:5 & 7, "...but according to His mercy He saved us...", "That being justified by faith". In other words, we are saved by faith through His mercy and grace, and not because of any thing we do. There is nothing that we or any other person can do, that can redeem us of our sins.
However, Jas. 2:17 says that faith without works is dead. Then it goes on to say that a man that has faith will have a desire to do works. The works will not save him, but the works are an outpouring of his faith.
So how does someone develop this faith in Jesus Christ, His death, burial, and resurrection? Rom. 10:17 says "faith cometh by hearing, and hearing by the Word of God". They hear when a Christian preaches, or teaches the Bible. When a Christian does work. When a Christian preaches John 14:6 "No man cometh to the Father but by me".
I hope I am doing my part. I hope I am doing the work that God wants me to.

I have somewhat against thee

In Revelation chapters 2 and 3, we see 7 letters to 7 churches. In 4 of these letters God says "I have somewhat against thee". After reading the passages, I see where the Christians, have gotten lax, they have gotten complaisant, they have decided to be more like the world than like Christ. I would say that this situation is not that bad. Of course you don't want God saying "I have somewhat against thee", but at this point they can still return to Christ. But in 3:15 God says "I know thy works, that thou art neither cold nor hot:..." then in verse 16,"So then because thou art luke-warm,... I will spue thee out of my mouth." He then goes on to tell them that since they think they are "all that", to try to match His greatness, and goodness.
He then in verse 19 says that if He loves you he will rebuke and chasten you. So if He is chastening you then repent, and turn back to Him.
In all 7 letters God says "He that hath an ear let Him hear what the Spirit saith unto the churches". If God, found it necessary to say it seven times, I for one want to take notice, and listen. In Mat 26:39 Jesus prayed "not my will but Thine". Jesus was willing to submit to the will of God, who am I to do any different?
I pray daily that God makes His will known unto me, and that I have the wisdom to know it, and the strength, and courage to follow it. Of course the only way to do any of those is to study His Word. 2 Tim 3:16 "All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness:".

How to Pray Pt 2

In John 15:13-15 we see what a friend is. Verse 13 "a man lay down His life for a friend." My key verse is verse 14, Jesus says "I am your Friend." I don't know about you but when I am upset, worried or scared about something, I seek out a friend I can talk to, and receive comfort from. I just showed where Jesus said He is our friend. Who could be a better friend than Jesus?
When I talk to my human friends, I talk just like I am talking now, not in the manner I discussed yesterday. Some of the most uplifting, draw me closer to God prayer meetings I have had, were those times that I got alone, just me and Jesus, and I talked to Him like I would a friend.
In John 11:11, Jesus says "Our friend Lazarus", this was just after He found out that Lazarus had died, He then went and called Lazarus from the grave. If He called His friend Lazarus from the grave, what will He do for us?
"What a friend we have in Jesus, all our sins and griefs to bear". How great is it to know that He is not only willing to carry our sins, but He wants us to come to Him with all our griefs, worries, problems, and concerns.
"There is a friend that sticketh closer than a brother", Prov. 18:24b. Closer than a brother? To be closer than a brother He would actually have to be part of you. The Bible tells us that when we ask Jesus to forgive us of our sins, the Holy Spirit, comes and lives in our heart. That would make Him part of us.
Now look at Romans 8:26, the Bible says that we don't even know what we should pray for, but the Spirit helps us, then He approaches the Father, and makes intercession for us according to the will of God. So the next time you have a heavy heart, imagine that your friend Jesus is right beside you, then talk to Him about what is going on, because He is a friend that is closer to you than your own brother.

Don't forget that we have a prayer list, here on "My Conversation with God". The whole point of conversation, is two way discussion. God talking to us, and us talking to God.

LORD teach us to pray

I have been praying for something for a couple of weeks now, with no answer. I have had other prayers answered, and I feel my faith is intact, at least until now. Which made me wonder if I was praying wrong, or if this is a test of faith. So I decided it was time that I went back and re-taught myself how to pray. Of course that means sharing my study with you. I am going to ask you to do something for me, once you have finished reading this lesson, pray that God will give me the wisdom that I have sought after for a couple of weeks now.
Let’s start in Matt. 8:9, the first thing we need to do is acknowledge who we are praying to, “Our Father who art in heaven.” Matt 23:9 “And call no man your father upon the earth: for one is your Father, which is in heaven.” He is the Almighty God, the Prince of Peace, the Great I AM, and so many other names, which describe his greatness, goodness and His holiness.
Verse 10 then tells that we need to ask for His will to be done in our lives. Verse 11, we then need to ask for God to meet our needs. This shows our faith in Him. Don’t forget if you are a new Christian, or if you’ve been saved for 50 years, we still need to ask forgiveness for our sins. But, then Jesus goes a step farther and tells us to forgive anyone that has done us wrong. In verse 13, we are told to ask God to help us avoid temptation and sin. Then once again we need to praise His holiness.
After this we can take our petitions to Him. We know that Jesus is seated on the right hand of the throne of God. So when we pray we are taking our prayers and petitions to the throne room of God. We need to remember this, and show the proper respect, and humble ourselves (2Chr 7:14), and pray on our knees.

I am working on a more in depth version of this, if you are interested in receiving a copy of this, just email me. I will be looking up other verses to support each statement made, of course I will have to limit it to one or two verses per statement, because it could go on forever.

Who do you serve?

In Joshua chapter 24, it is coming to the end of Joshua's life, and he is addressing the Israelite's for the last time. He is warning the people of worshiping the false god's of the land, he also reminds them of all the great things that God has done for them until this point. Then in verse 15 he says "And if it seem evil unto you to serve the LORD, choose you this day whom ye will serve;... but as for me and my house, we will serve the LORD."
We have to choose daily whom we will serve, whether it be God, the church, our friends, or Satan. The truth is if we are not serving God we are serving Satan. I pray daily that I choose to serve the LORD. If we have any hope of staying faithful to Him, we have to pray this daily, sometimes hourly.
There have been many times in my life, that I have said "I will serve the LORD", then turned around and turned my back to God, and did my own thing. There are so many times that I can not pick one to tell you about today. Especially since they all ended so badly that I am embarrassed to admit it. Every time I did this, I had to get on my knees and beg God to not only forgive me, but to clean up my mess, then do whatever needed to be done to start with. I am glad that we have a God that forgives us when we go astray. Is 53:6 "All we like sheep have gone astray: we have turned every one to his own way; and the LORD hath laid on him the iniquity of us all". I am so glad that God choose to love me enough to send His Son to suffer the cross of Calvary in order to provide a way to pay the penalty of my sin. He knew that I would stray, so He made a way for me to return to His fold. If He loved me enough to die for me, surely I can choose to serve Him, and live for Him.

Target Goal

Please pray that God will give us 100 followers. I know that He always goes above and beyond what we ask, but I am asking for 100 right now.

Me

Please pray for me, not only that God will help me in my day to day struggles with my health, but also that He will guide me, and give me the words He wants me to write here on the blog.
This morning I was reading in Revelation 4 and 5. What great chapters to read on a Sunday morning as I prepare to go to worship God.

Verse 8 says that the four living creatures, day and night do not cease to cry, "Holy, holy, holy is the Lord God the Almighty, who was and who is and who is to come." This morning as I go to worship, I want to be aware of the Holiness of God. It brings my heart to repentance.

Verse 11 says that the 24 elders will fall dow before Him and lay their crowns at His feet saying, "Worthy art Thou, our Lord and our God, to receive glory and honor and power, for Thou didst create all things, and for thy pleasure they are and were created." Worship Him this morning as your creator.

Verse 9 and 12 speak of the worthiness of God the Son, the Lamb. "Worthy art Thou to take the book and to breat its seals; for Thou wast slain, and hast redeemed us to God by thy blood out of every kindred, and tongue, and people, and nation"..."Worthy is the Lanb that was slain to recieve power and riches, and wisdom, and strength, and honor and glory and blessing..."Blessing, and honor, and glory and power, be unto him that sitteth upon the throne, and unto the Lamb for ever and ever," Worship Him this morning as your Savior and coming King!!

Angel's Unawares

I worked with this man one time, he was probably one of the most Godly men I have ever met. Even though he and his family was going through a tough time, there was considerable financial problems due to other things that were going on. One day as he left work, he reached the end of the drive, we noticed that he sat there for a rather long time. Then the next morning, as he was coming in, he pulled into the drive, then just stopped and sat there a few minutes before continuing to the building. When asked about it, he told this story about picking up a guy the day before, carrying him home, feeding him, then giving him a place to sleep, before bringing him back to our parking lot, where there happened to be a Greyhound Bus stop. His wife, and three kids backed up his story about the existence of this man. After this, the family had no more financial problems.
I believe, and you will never convince me different, is found in Heb. 13:2 Be not forgetful to entertain strangers: for thereby some have entertained angels unawares. We see several places in the scripture where angels made themselves visible to man, in order to minister to him, to protect him, or to deliver a message to him.
I don't know if I have ever been presented with this opportunity, but I hope that if God ever chooses to minister to me this way, that I will pass the test. What about you, do you want God to send an angel your way?

Morning Prayer.

O’ LORD God, my rock and my salvation, in just a few moments I will sit down my coffee cup and pick up my Bible. Then I will go into the world. But before I do, I need to come before you, humbling myself a sinner deserving an eternity in hell. Instead, you loved me so much you provided a way for me to join you in heaven. Heavenly Father, thank you for sending your Son to shed His blood to pay the price for my sin.
Please fill me with your spirit, until I overflow. Fill me until I am able to share you with those around me.
You are the all knowing God; I am not able to see clearly. I need you to lead me, to guide me, to show me your way, and the path you want me to take. I will face trials and temptations and even some tribulation, but so will those I come in contact with. However, I am not worried, because you are the comforter. Help me lay my burdens at your feet, so I can help others carry their burden.
Father of Lights, let your glory shine through me, may others know your love, grace, and mercy through me. Use me to spread your gospel, use me to give others a desire to know you.
I ask all these things in the precious Holy name of your Son, Jesus Christ.

Amen

We are not alone.

1 Peter 2:24 gives us the good news that Christ on the cross took our sins in His own body. That we might be considered sinless in the eyes of God. Matt 8:17 goes beyond that and tells that He not only took our sins, but also our sickness. Why would Jesus do that? Why would He suffer the sickness that we suffer?
The answer is in Is 53. Verse 4 prophesies that the Messiah would carry our grief, and sorrows. Then verse 6 says the iniquity of us all would be laid on Him. Verse 12 once again says he has the sin of many, then goes one step farther and says he made intercession for us. In other words He became our lawyer.
I think we can all understand why he needed to carry our sins, and iniquities, but why does the Bible tell us that he carried our sickness? Why would God find it necessary to, or even waste His time to mention grief and sorrows?
Because when Christ was on the cross, He looked down through time, to May 22, 2010, then He looked at me, and He took my physical pain upon Himself. But He did not stop there He took my emotional pain also, this way when I pray to Him today, and I ask for strength to make it through the day, or I ask for comfort and relief from the pain, He understands what I am going through. He experienced it, He understands, He knows how to comfort me.
When I pray for the 10th time, and I am getting desperate, because the light bill is due, and I don't have the money. He can wrap His arms around me, and comfort me, He can actually comfort me because He understands. He felt my pain, He felt my fear and desperation.
How much does He love us to not only take our sin upon Himself, and suffer the penalty for them, but He found it worthwhile to suffer my physical and emotional pain. He knows what it is like to lose your job, to go through a divorce, to be abused, or raped. He knows what it is like to suffer a physical illness, or a mental illness. He knows what it is like to be alone, to struggle to pay your bills, or to be tormented by past sin that no matter how much you pray, you can not get out from under it grip. Why would He do this? Because He loves us, and He want to comfort us when we need comforting. I know for me, I can talk, and talk to someone that does not have a chronic illness, and it does no good. However if I talk to someone who suffers the same way I do, I get some emotional relief. He knew I would be like this, so He wanted to experience what I experience so that He would understand, so I would could get comfort from Him. He said He would never leave nor forsake us, that means He is beside us at all times. We just need to pray, and ask for His help then reach out to Him.
